Aura's chat routes use **zero data retention (ZDR)**: AI providers process your request and keep nothing, and none of it is used to train models.

A few optional features — like Fast Mode and some video and music generation — use providers without ZDR. They're clearly labeled and only run when you choose them.

## Your connected apps

Work Mode and Agents use your own app accounts, connected through Composio — the integration layer behind Aura's 1,500+ app connections. You connect each app yourself, the connection tokens are stored securely, and you can disconnect any app at any time from Settings. Disconnecting revokes the token, so Aura can no longer act in that app.

## Where your data lives

Your files, knowledge base and app data are stored in Aura-managed cloud storage and databases, encrypted at rest and delivered worldwide through Cloudflare's network. Chat requests are routed to AI models through OpenRouter over zero-data-retention endpoints. For the full provider breakdown, see [Security & trust](/account/security).

## Your files

Files you upload stay in your account. Shared media links are gated, not permanent public URLs.
